Music in Medicine, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Our goal is to bring live bedside therapeutic music to Citrus County.  Anyone who finds himself in a medical facility can benefit from therapeutic music. Music can reduce pain and anxiety, and aid in recovery after surgery. Music can help restore memories to dementia patents and bring them into awareness. Music can help stabilize breathing or heart rates.

Music in Medicine, Inc promotes the power of therapeutic music. This music contributes to healing  patients in Citrus County, Florida. We introduce the medical community to therapeutic music’s benefits. The organization is working to develop a pool of trained musicians. This pool will deliver live bedside therapeutic music throughout the county’s medical facilities. The musicians will serve in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, memory care facilities, and hospices.  Ultimately, Music in Medicine seeks to make live therapeutic music a familiar healthcare experience. The result will be improved health and wellness in our community.

Our founder, Adele Jacobson, is a Certified Music Practitioner. After certification, she began playing bedside therapeutic music. She played at a local hospital, a hospice and skilled nursing facilities and she realized the immense need for her services.  As the only therapeutic musician actively playing in Citrus County medical facilities, she couldn’t begin to meet the need alone. She formed Music In Medicine Inc. to bring more musicians into the fold by assisting them with the cost of the training. By creating a pool of trained musicians, we will make therapeutic music a common occurrence here. Everyone benefits: patients, medical facilities and musicians.
